Bogoria J.J.Sm.



J.J Smith proposed the name in 1905 for the one species found in Java; since then other species have been discovered and added to the genus.
  • Small epiphytic monopodial with flattened roots and very short stem.
  • The three or five leaves are flat and unequally bilobed epically,
  • Inflorescences are borne from the stem below leaves
  • Slender peduncle and a shorter,
  • grooved rachis which bears about ten flowers, three or four of which open at in time.
  • Flowers are small, they open wide and have free sepals and petals, a trilobed, deeply saccate lip and a column which has a short foot, there are four pollinia in two masses.
Four species are now known, which range from Sumatra, Java, Borneo, the Philippines, and New Guinea
