Before the move to the Anisopetala genus, these species knowns as Dendrobium sanguinolentum, In the year 1919 J.J.Sm. published a variety of Dendrobium sanguinolentum Lindl, f. sumatranum and Dendrobium sanguinolentum Lindl, f cerinum in Bulletin de l'Institut Botanique de Buitenzorg ser.3 v.1:112, 1919.
In this photo, the character mid lobe and side lobe are streaked longitudinally with a light or pale purple really distinct appearance
